Take a look at this:
This video amazes me and makes me want to use the Sonic GDK engine. I think if we use this, we can get things done much faster (physics wise). Thoughts?
Also, this type of environment is kind of how I imagine Mobius being like... except not as Green Hill-ish.

I think you're right, this looks to be an exceptional game engine for the purposes we wish to use. I fail to see what the entire purpose of this video is, but nonetheless, it looks very pretty. I also enjoy the orchestral of Super Sonic and Green Hill Zone. (Get it, GHz?)
EDIT: The one thing I really don't like is the waterfall. But, I know it's insanely hard to animate convincing water, so I can forgive that. Otherwise, jolly good ho!

I guess this kind of open world could be used as a HUD of some kind, since this is a game based off of Sonic X, we should show a 3D representation of Sonic's world.

This could work well on large areas like the maps on Sonic Adventure I, but for actual gameplay I can't be certain. I need to know the engine's capabilities and limitations. Does it support closed-environment play, scripting, and the ability to switch from sidescroll to third-person view? If it can do those things or be modified to do those things, then we may as well just stick with it. If I can work my way around it, then that could put us about 20% ahead of where we are now. We'd just need to do voice acting, level design, and LOTS of planning.

I took a look at the engine and here is what I found. Cons: It's highly taxing on computers. Specs Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Mac OS X 2.0 GHz single-core processor 2 GB system RAM Shader Model 3.0 compatible graphics card (Nvidia GeForce 8600GT or better, ATI Radeon X1950Pro or better) My old desktop can't run it, as I don't have Shader Model 3 (my computer is a dinosaur). Enemies would need a lot of work, as the current enemy A.I. is pretty basic. Keyboard and mouse controls should be changed (or maybe controller support). Pros: The Sonic Engine itself is like Sonic Colors, with 3D and 2.5D sections, pretty good. The graphics can turn out great. Sounds are good. The engine is made in UDK. Overall this engine is pretty good. I don't see a better one out there. I guess we should stick with it. However, I wouldn't be able to help out very much and other people might not be able to play it due to the "blast processing" this commands.
