It feels way too much like this project is dead. I realize that people may be busy, myself included, but pretty much everything has just stopped.
The argument that there's nothing left to do until we can animate is false. There's an entire story-line to write out, game elements that need to be discussed, and (because I can't exclude myself) the soundtrack isn't done.
Basically, let's get it moving, people! If only at a snails pace.

I see. So this is how it is.
Very well.

It doesn't have to be like this. Oh, if only we had someone skilled who was looking for something to do as a college project..

Think we could convince Beta-Carotene to do us as a side-job?
(That was a jest, but it would be really cool)

Yes, yes it would be. What sucks is that he/she (still forget sometimes) is working on a side-scrolling 2D engine with 3D features, something that would never work for our game.

True enough. But if compromising on an engine would get us going along faster, or at all for that matter, I'd be willing to give it a shot.

Not to be rude, but I don't you (or hardly anyone here, myself included) knows even 10% of what is required to make a game engine. There's lighting, physics, scripting, and audio, just to name a few. Furthermore, I'm the only one here who has a decent amount of programming experience. My skills are years away from being able to make a game engine.

That's not what I was getting at. But, not to make it seem as if I have any programming experience myself, a 3D engine would be harder to program than a 2D, no?

Uhh, yea. To make matters worse, I only have a rudimentary knowledge of Visual Basic, QBasic, and C++. I don't have the slightest clue how DirectX works, though, it's really just an extension of C++ or something. Still, too much for me right now.

Well, once you start college in video game designing, you could probably turn this into a project.

I know how to make basic Platformers in GameMaker but that only takes sprites and not 3D models. I don't do any lighting on them though, so.... ^^;

I've used GameMaker before. I'll be honest, it's far from what we need here. That's meant for 2D games, and our game is going to be a much more advanced 3D one (or so I hope). I've debated using Unity3D as the engine, but I still don't know how to import our Blender models into it. I don't even know how to use the program itself.
Sigh, we really do need a professional here..

2d gamemaker games can be good xD I have done my own Sonic fangame with gamemaker 7 lite (I even drew the sprites by myself) but it didn't turn out so well... :DD
But ok, Salom Adventure (the game where I'm making the music) is pretty good one... Theres some video about it:
Well, that music right there is not composed by me, coz thats an old video...

That is actually pretty darn good. I mean, it incorporates pretty much all of the 3D and 2D stuff onto a single platformer. I would play that game.
Even so, considering we're doing models rather than sprites, your standard 2D platformer isn't going to cut it.

If there was a way we could at least get the base code for the physics that was used in that game, that would be great. Like Isentar said, though it's a great 2D engine, we kinda need a full 3D one that uses dynamically rendered models, not static sprites.
